Eligibility: Open to all artists in New England. Work must have been completed within the last three years and may not have been done in a class or under a teacher’s supervision. Original artwork only. Work may not have been accepted in any previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show.

Media: All 2-D media with the exception of digital art and photography. Work must be properly framed with wood or metal, under glass and wired for hanging, no saw tooth hangers. Work larger than 22” by 28” (this is the glass size, not painting image size) must be framed with Plexiglas. No work may be larger than 42” on longest dimension, including frame.

No work with black mattes will be accepted. Please have your name, address and phone # on the back of each painting- a business card is perfect for this. Work not meeting these criteria will not be hung.

Entry: Deadline is Sunday, April 29th. Non-refundable entry fee: Members $14.00 per work or 3 for $35.00; Non-members $18.00 per entry or 3 for $45.00. (Limit of three works per artist.)

Juror: Lee Chabot was born in Pawtucket, R.I. and presently resides in Glocester, R.I. As a student at the Art Institute of Boston he studied under renowned painter “Phillip Hicken” and was also influenced by the works of J.M.W. Turner, Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent van Gogh. Chabot was a co-founder of the Art Institute of Rhode Island, which offered fine art and commercial courses to children, youth and adults. He established a reputation in fine art painting through many one-man shows and exhibitions in his early career winning numerous awards and recognitions. His work can be found in private collections throughout the country.

Awards: First Prize $100, Second Prize $75, and Third Prize $50 plus Honorable Mentions.

Sales: All work must be for sale. All sales will be subject to RIWS commission of 25% for members; 35% for non-members.

Delivery: Hand delivered only; entries may be delivered to RIWS –April 23rd-29th during gallery hours. (Tuesday - Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm, Sunday: 1 – 5 pm.) Work will be juried on Monday, April 30th.

Pick-Up: You may check online on Tuesday, May 1st or call the gallery on May 1st, between 10am - 4pm to ask if your work was accepted. Works not accepted must be picked up May 1st-5th during gallery hours. Accepted work must be picked up on Friday, June 1st from 10am-4 pm. Note: There will be a $5 charge per painting for accepted work not picked up by 5 pm on Sunday, June 3rd unless you contact us if there is a problem Please make arrangements with someone to pick up your work if you cannot.

Liability: The Rhode Island Watercolor Society cannot be responsible for any loss or damage, although every possible care will be taken in handling.
