Celebrate Independent Publishing at RIPExpo

Discover a unique festival featuring the non-mainstream

Posted

The first annual Rhode Island Independent Publishing Expo (RIPExpo), a weekend-long free festival dedicated to small-press and self-published comics, books and zines, will be held on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3. The event will take place at the Providence Public Library from 12-6pm on both days, with special evening events scheduled for after hours.

RIPExpo is the only event of its kind in Rhode Island, celebrating the diverse community of underground artists and writers who are underrepresented in mainstream media. Creators from all across North America will join local artists to share work and generate discussion through panels, film screenings, exhibitions and social events. Vendors will have a variety of books, comics, prints and artwork for sale to the public. Special guests include Providence-based artists, cartoonist Mickey Zacchilli and Mothers News editor Jacob Khepler.

RIPExpo is free and open to the public thanks to the sponsorship of the Providence Public Library, located at 150 Empire Street in downtown Providence. ripexpo.tumblr. com
