The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council Paints PVD

Woony & the Avenue Concept create a colorful mural

Posted

Providence got a little splash of color recently with a new public mural. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) partnered with The Avenue Concept to create a mural for the new spur of the Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket River Greenway to celebrate the return of the river’s native herring population.

The 70 ft. x 20 ft. Watershed Mural highlights the natural beauty of the river, showcasing a river teaming with herring, local foliage and wildlife, while incorporating urban culture and reflecting hope and progress. Thanks to the hard work and artistic skill of the Avenue Concept’s resident artist, Nick Guilbert, this masterpiece is now ready to be admired.

The concept started with a community project where local business owners and WRWC volunteers planted trees along the road portion of the new spur. The mural is located on the north wall of Greco Brothers.
