ALL WEEKEND: The Southern New England Film, Music and Arts Festival is in its 6th year of bringing people together through art, film and music. Join the celebration at Columbus Theater in Providence for the 6 day event. More info.

ALL WEEKEND: Gather up the kids and head over to the Rhode Island Convention Center for The New England Family Fun Festival. The two day event includes interactive games, activities, live performances, music, contests and a lot of surprises! More info.

SATURDAY: You can’t beat a nice cold beer during these beautiful spring days. Newport announces the return of The Newport Craft Beer Festival, giving you the chance to try samples of local brews and chat with the makers. More info.

SUNDAY: Blithewold Mansion in Bristol invites you to celebrate spring’s return and the fragrance and beauty of the outdoors at the Fairy Festival. Absorb the beauty of the gardens. It's the perfect opportunity to spend the day outside. More info.

 

Clean Up

SATURDAY: Every little bit helps so join the community at The Annual Neutaconkanut Park Cleanup in Providence and do your part at keeping the Earth clean. There are even perks to being there first; the first 50 cleaners to arrive get a free food voucher, contest entry and private raffle entry. More info.

SATURDAY: Clean Day on the Greenway in Providence doesn’t just mean you’ll be picking up garbage for hours straight. As a volunteer you can help weed, mulch, and plant flower beds, touch up paint, build fences and much more! More info.

SATURDAY: The West Broadway Neighborhood Association hosts The 3rd Annual Spring Cleanup. Get involved and help clean with friends and neighbors as well as enjoy a free BBQ and coffee. More info.

 

Kids

SATURDAY: Bring the little ones (ages 4-7) to Bravo Brasserie in Providence for interactive storytelling and treats at the Story Time Tea Party event featuring characters from Alice in Wonderland. More info.

 

Race

SATURDAY: Get some exercise and enjoy the fresh spring air at Children’s Friend 5K Walk and Run sponsored by Panera Bread. The 5K will take place at Roger Williams Park Zoo and will kick off with a breakfast to energize you for the race. More info.

SATURDAY: Watch as 20,000 rubber ducks are dumped into the Pawcatuck River in Westerly during the 16th Annual Pawcatuck River Duck Race. With children’s games, rides and plenty of food this is a great event for the family, and it benefits over 40 local charities. More info.

SUNDAY: Get Gored for Good: The Providence Running of the Bulls takes place downcity this weekend. The unique event has you running or walking through the streets of Providence with the Providence Roller Derby following behind wearing horns. There is a method to the madness; proceeds go to the Amos House. More info.

 

Crafts

SUNDAY: Craftopia at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket gives you the opportunity to shop handmade gifts or to find the perfect piece for yourself. Explore about 55 artisans’ creations from around New England. More info.

Wedding

ALL WEEKEND: Getting married? Shop around for the perfect rings at The MUSE Wedding Event in Warren. The shop offers handcrafted jewelry making your wedding bands even more special. Work with a jeweler to find just the right one. More info.

 

Music

FRIDAY: Abbey Rhode, a 1960’s inspired band is performing at Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth. The band will be playing in the stable/tasting room, so kick back and enjoy the music (and some wine, too!) More info.


Competition

SUNDAY: The Epic Theatre Company in Cranston is hosting The Monologue Wars, an original competition involving the audience and the performance of different monologues. A line of judges will choose a winner who will receive a surprise and bragging rights. More info.

 

Shopping

***UPDATE*** RESCHEDULED FOR MAY 3rd: Fashion week at Brown University must come to an end, but first the Vintage Bazaar is happening one block parallel to Thayer Street. Shop 18 specialty vendors and find one of a kind items from jewelry, accessories to clothing. More info.

 

Conference

ALL WEEKEND: Brown University invites you to the 2014 Seeed Summit, a collaboration between Social Enterprise Greenhouse, Social Innovation Initiative at Brown, Worldways Marketing Group and SEEED. The groups will come together to discuss economic development. More info.

FRIDAY: Celebrate for the Seeed Summit at the after party held at The Steel Yard in Providence with music, food and lots of fun. Live entertainment will be present as well as leaders in social enterprise. More info.
