Bright Idea

Posted

Most lovers dream of a candlelit evening by the sea. For the past year, The Coast Guard House has brought this dream to life: the restaurant’s Candlelight Nights take place the second Tuesday of every month, when electric bulbs are switched off and artful entrees are served in a flickering glow. “We thought it would be perfect for us, because it plays to our history,” says Bob Leonard, one of the proprietors. “Our building dates back to the 1880s,” when wax and wick were commonplace. The romantic atmosphere has drawn crowds for two winters, but the candles are doused in the warmer months, when the sun tarries late into the evening. This month’s Candlelight Night is March 13.
