The Charlestown Land Trust (CLT) is sponsoring a photo contest to celebrate the wonder and beauty of Charlestown. Thirteen top photos will be used for a Charlestown Land Trust calendar for 2019. The calendars will be gifted or sold by the CLT. The photographer is not required to live in Charlestown, but the photo must have been taken in Charlestown.
The emphasis is on celebrating the uniqueness of Charlestown. Subject matter should reflect this in some way. The subject matter can include: flora, fauna, landscape, open space, historical sites, pets and/or people. Photographs can be black and white or color. The required size is 8x10 with a single 11x14 matte of any color. Each photo entered is subject to a $10 entry fee. Unfortunately at this time digital entries cannot be accepted.
The deadline for photo submissions is April 9, 2018. Further information and entry forms are on the CLT website (charlestownlandtrust.org). Entries can bedropped off at Kettle Pond Visitor Center, 50 Bend Rd, Charlestown, RI 02813 between April 1 through April 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

A Photo Exhibit and Award Ceremony, open to the public will be held on May 17, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Cross Mills Library, Post Road, Charlestown. Refreshments and desserts will be provided.
Prizes will be awarded on May 17, 2018. These awards include Best of Show for an Adult (15 years and older) and for a youth (14 years and under). Each recipient of the Best of Show will be awarded a $50 cash prize. Photos will be judged by select members of the CLT board of directors. In addition a People’s Choice Award will be given to one recipient who will also be awarded a $50.00 cash prize. This award will be judged by attendees of the photo exhibit at the Cross Mills Library on 5/17/18. Lastly, the Calendar Photo Choice awards will be given to 10 recipients. Each will receive a 2019 calendar when printed. Photos will be judged by select members of the CLT board of directors. All award recipients will have their photos included in the 2019 calendar. The photographer need not be present to win an award.
