Earth Day at Neutaconkanut Hill

Posted by BethHurd

Volunteers are needed for Earth Day on Neutaconkanut Hill, with projects including trail clearing, trail blazing, spreading wood chips, painting, litter pick-up and debris removal to ready the trails for our Spring, Summer and Fall seasonal events. The unusually wet and windy winter caused havoc on our trails, used by educational groups and the general public. Enjoy the only natural forest in Providence and join us!

Where: Meet on top of the Hill, at Neutaconkanut Hill Park, entering from 58 Legion Memorial Drive. (Plainfield St. to Sunset Ave., to Legion Memorial Drive, continue to gate.)

Dress: Wear sensible work clothes and appropriate footwear for walking in the woods.

NHC will provide: All supplies required including gloves, safety glasses, bug spray, snacks and water.

Each participant will receive a Providence Earth Day Volunteer Badge pin with benefits including free RIPTA rides on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, and free admission to the Roger Williams Zoo, Botanical Gardens and the Museum of Natural History on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.

Raindate, Sunday, April 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; heavy rain cancels.

Sponsored by the Providence Parks Department and the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy, Inc.
