Get Along and Go - To a Party

Two Providence tastemakers curate their favorite things on a new blog

Providence is no stranger to the efforts of Joanna Levitt and Lorien Balayan. Levitt, one of our “10 to Watch for 2012”, has been working with Balayan for a while on the popular and useful InDowncity.com. Though primarily a vehicle for the In Downcity marketing group, the site has gained a following because of its fun, familiar voice and the fact that people always want to know what's happening downtown. Levitt and Balayan’s main goal on the site is to get more businesses and events to come to the area.

But that’s all for work. This is about fun. Levitt and Balayan are now working together on a blog called Get Along and Go. GAAG is a site where the two women write about their shared interests in cooking, gardening, fashion, music, art, design and more. For example, in a recent post, the writers announced that they’ll have a series of posts for recipes, drinks and fashions dedicated to the 1950s classic cocktail party. This blog is great for seeking out unique interests that are thoughtfully curated, with the creators’ tips and reviews, insights and recommendations being updated every day. Think of it as a cross between Pinterest and Design Sponge.

To celebrate the blog, The Salon is hosting a launch party for the site. The event will start at 9pm on Saturday, September 29, with free entry open to all. There will be a live performance from Triangle Forest, as well as the music of DJ No Go Go. There will be giveaways of some of Get Along and Go’s favorite things, plus specialty drinks, and the Poco Loco Taco Truck will be there to serve up tasty tacos.
