Glistening Goddesses Opens in the Arcade

Get your bronze on downtown

Posted

Another mover and shaker has taken up residence at the once crumbling, now charming Arcade. Cassandra Capraro, owner of Johnston’s Glistening Goddesses – a popular spray tan and skincare studio – has transported her airbrush and her sunless tanning solution to downtown Providence. In addition to opening a second Glistening Goddesses salon, she has also relocated Goddess Closet – a consignment shop and boutique for women – to the Arcade from its former home in Greenville.

Cassandra says that in addition to making you appear ten pounds thinner, a spray tan enhances every look and outfit. In that vein, it makes perfect sense that the young entrepreneur would think to combine tanning and shopping in one convenient location. “Goddess Closet is on the main floor of the Arcade and Glistening Goddesses is located in the lower half of the unit,” she explains.

The first floor boutique is easy to navigate with lots of open space and items displayed neatly on racks and long tables. You’ll find a mix of new and old women’s clothing, handbags, shoes, jewelry and accessories. “We carry a wide variety of brands from H&M to Prada,” Cassandra says, “and we are just starting to incorporate local, made in Rhode Island brands.”

Tech-saavy Cassandra also sells her finds online via Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram, so if you see her posting something you adore – like, say, a classic Chanel bag that would make you feel like a Hollywood starlet – be sure to rush in and pick it up while it lasts. (Inventory tends to go pretty quickly here.) Even celebs like Miss Universe Olivia Culpo has been known to shop at and rave about this store!

“Our items change daily because we are constantly getting new stuff in and selling out of stuff,” Cassandra says. “Currently my top five favorite items are a brand new, bright orange Helene ostrich handbag; a limited edition Dior handbag; a brand new rose gold metallic Rebecca Minkoff handbag; patent leather Dior shoes; and a brand new Michael Kors watch.”

Since some of the high-end luxury items are on consignment, shoppers are able to snatch them up at a fraction of retail price. Need a few styling tips to help you feel confident rocking that new LV bag of yours on the streets? Cassandra is extremely willing to answer any and all fashion-related questions: “I love talking with our customers and learning about everyone’s unique style and fashion sense.”

As for her own sense of style, Cassandra describes it as pretty go with the flow. “I spend a lot of time working and wear my ‘uniform’ when I’m at the salon – a crystal logo t-shirt and black yoga pants,” she says. “When I’m off, I love to throw on a dress and some sandals in the summer. In the fall and winter, leggings with a big, comfy sweater and a pair of cute boots is my go-to outfit.”

No matter what she wears, you’ll always find her groomed to the nines. “We do custom, organic spray tans, facials, eyelash extensions, waxing and makeup application,” she says. Got a hot date or a special event? This is your one stop getting ready shop. “I started spray tanning back in 2010 as a hobby. My sister, a licensed esthetician, and I decided to open Glistening Goddesses in 2011. The rest is history.”

These days, Cassandra couldn’t be happier to have two stores based out of Providence. “When I heard there was a spot coming available in the Arcade that was perfect for both Glistening Goddesses and Goddess Closet, I jumped at the opportunity. I love the history of the building – it is just too cute.”
