Rhody Gem: January 2019

Dante’s Kitchen

Posted

We are pleased to introduce Rhody Gem, a new monthly column in SO Rhode Island. We’re always being thanked for spotlighting the “hidden gems” of the state, and in our ongoing efforts to leave no stone unturned, we’re putting the call out to our readership! Each month we’ll spotlight a Rhody Gem: a business, artisan, or place lead to us by our faithful readers.

What it is:
A restaurant specializing in American food with Southern flair.

Where to find it:

Look for the green house with the purple door along downtown East Greenwich’s Main Street.

What makes it a Rhody Gem?
If you like Cajun style food, this is the place for you. Named for owner Lisa Altieri’s dog, Dante’s Kitchen serves up “grub” with New Orleans panache. Menu offerings include gumbo, jambalaya, and beignets, and the signature macaroni and cheese dish is topped with bacon, cheddar, pulled pork, and jalapeño cornbread crumble. The breakfast menu is extremely popular with locals, as is the roster of specialty drinks. Altieri and her compassion for all are at the heart of this special place, where most of the staff has been with her since day one, lending to the welcoming vibe.
