Saving the Planet Through the Power of Rock

Bleachers plays WBRU’s Earth Day show at the Met

Posted

Earth Day was last week, but what have you done to save the planet lately? (Clicking through the naturey Google Doodle on April 22 doesn’t count.) To improve the environment, you could spend some time planting trees, or picking up litter, or installing composting toilets in your backyard. Or, you could head to the Met tonight for WBRU’s annual Earth Day Show featuring Bleachers and Jetty.

Bleachers lead singer Jack Antonoff might look familiar – he’s the guitarist for megaband Fun. and Lena Dunham’s boyfriend. For reasons you might have already guessed, this solo project is generating a lot of buzz, though the full Bleachers album (featuring talent from Depeche Mode and Erasure) won’t be out until later this spring. Their single “I Wanna Get Better” is currently in rotation on BRU. 2014 Rock Hunt finalist Jetty opens for the band.

But what about saving the planet? A portion of the $15 ticket goes to the Rhode Island Earth Day Cleanup.
