Talulah.Cooper is Wickenden's Hidden Jewelry Gem

Owner Haylee Tallarida's variety of unique pieces sets this spot apart

I’ve always thought of myself as extremely familiar with College Hill: its streets, sights, restaurants and shops, in particular the charming stretch of Wickenden Street – dotted with an array of welcoming places that I’ve come to love. I thought I’d seen it all, that is, until, I came across a hidden gem of sorts, tucked away on Traverse Street – a teensy, precious jewelry boutique called talulah.cooper.

And that’s exactly how founder and owner Haylee Tallarida wants it to be. “I really enjoy the surprise of finding a little hole in the wall spot,” she says, “I enjoy people stumbling upon the store. I love it being word of mouth and being an intimate setting.”

The boutique space of talulah.cooper truly fits this desire for intimacy in a building tucked away from the bustle of Wickenden Street. It’s totally cozy and filled with comfy chairs, fun artwork, flowers and, of course, beautifully displayed necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.

Haylee had been teaching high school before she decided to open up her own business. She’s been collecting jewelry for many years now – having a self-described lifelong “love affair” with it – so a jewelry boutique was a natural fit for her. And her exquisite taste really make it an inviting and elegant space. I loved browsing the glass cabinets and dishes full of petals and pebbles all containing interesting sterling silver and gold jewelry pieces. On the walls are funky wooden displays of darling necklaces with little charms, cool stones, shark teeth, feathers and more.

Something that really sets talulah.cooper apart is that Haylee works personally and closely with all of the designers that she puts in her store. “I love having the ability to connect the customer with the jeweler,” she says. Some of Haylee’s favorite pieces she has in the store are the unique rings by designer Bora, a designer she’s been collecting since she was a teenager and now has the pleasure of working with and calling a close friend.

The gorgeous, intricate statement rings are completely one-of-a-kind, so if you find one you love you’re truly getting something that’s just for you. Haylee loves how the intimacy of talulah.cooper’s setting gives her many opportunities to work closely with customers. She has even helped couples find their perfect engagement ring. It’s these kind of personal touches that she really loves. “That’s really cool, to be part of someone’s story that way and to connect with the neighborhood,” she says.

Talulah.cooper offers pieces at a range of prices – whether you want a little something to spice up your wardrobe or you’re itching for something more upscale and one-of-a-kind. Haylee’s close connection with the jewelers let you work together to find exactly what you’re looking for. “Jewelry is one of those things that crosses every generation,” says Haylee, “it’s timeless.”
