The ¡CityArts! Mod Party has something for every art enthusiast. The New Providence Big Band will perform and Easy Entertaining will cater, as attendees can dance under the stars, check out the various interactive art installations or watch the many performances. All proceeds raised will help support ¡CityArts!, which was recently awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program award by Michelle Obama. $65 for adults, $30 for students. 7-10pm. 62 Prospect Street, Providence. ● After this dreary week, we all will need some relaxing, Caribbean vibes. If you cannot travel to paradise on short notice, check out Reggae band Chronixx and the Zincfence Redemption at Lupo’s. Aurora will host Carissa Lynne, as she releases her new fashion line Friday night. The fashion show will eventually turn into a party, with several musical acts set to perform with Viennagram, a funky, psychedelic punk band, headlining. $5. 9pm. 276 Westminster Street, Providence. More Info…

Saturday

Food truck lovers rejoice! The Providence/Boston Food Truck Showdown will take over India Point Park Saturday, as the two cities will compete for supremacy. We already know who the real winners are: the attendees who help judge, of course. In addition to the wide variety of food trucks, there will be live music, face painting for children and beer for adults. $5, children under 12 are free. 12-5pm. India Point Park. More Info…

● While the food trucks battle in Providence, chowder enthusiasts will square off in the nationally acclaimed Great Chowder Cook-Off. Featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel, the cook-off draws people from across the country to the state that does chowder best. Eat chowder until you can’t eat any more – then recover, and eat some more. $25, children under 12 are free. 12-6pm. Fort Adams State Park, Newport. More Info…

● The Hope Street Block Party returns and it promises to be bigger than ever, which seems like a promise it will live up to. With 13 bands, 16 food trucks and dozens of other activities, the dilemma is not what to do at the block party, but which events you won’t be able to get to. Hope Street, Providence. 12-6pm. Some of Boston’s best comics will travel south this weekend to show off their comedic geniuses to Rhode Islanders during Legends of Boston Comedy.
