Chanteuse, the bi-monthly music series that brings together local and regional female vocalists, presents Brooklyn based indie band iL Abanico. After an outstanding performance at their May 12 Chanteuse debut, they are returning to Fete to wow audience members once again.

Relax and enjoy a free outdoor movie at Knight Memorial Library. The Last Waltz is playing, a documentary/concert film of The Band's farewell concert appearance where they were joined by more than a dozen special guests, including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr and Neil Young.

Come celebrate your passion for jazz! Every Friday night, Temple-Downtown at the Renaissance Hotel turns into a jazz hot spot. Excellent food and cocktails in a relaxing atmosphere. This week’s jazz performer is Caesar, a talented musician who has traveled the world spreading his musical gift.

Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, maybe even a picnic dinner and relax on the lawn at the beautiful Roger Williams National Memorial park for the Downtown Sundown Series. Enjoy music, theatrical performances and films as you make the best of summertime while it’s still here.

The Great Graffiti Contest is back this year, so get out your spraypaint and ski masks and prepare for some legal vandalization. Or don’t, because when you sign up for a spot on the wall, judges give you a kit with paints, gloves and a facemask to protect yourself while you work your masterpiece. The winning pieces in each age category will be announced after voting at 2pm. There will also be a DJ and dancing and lip sync contest for those whose talents don’t lie in the arts.

Finally, Saturday and Sunday host the Newport Jazz Festival in Fort Adams State Park. It's two full days of live music on three huge stages, plus food carts and vendors to keep you from starving. Jazz and music lovers, don’t even think about missing this once-a-year event. New Orleans legend Dr. John headlines a preview on Friday night as well.
