October 5-8

It's a (blissfully) long weekend, so embrace the beginning of fall this Columbus Day Weekend!

Start Saturday off right with International Oktoberfest at the Newport Yachting Center and experience international and seasonal beer varieties on Newport’s downtown waterfront. Take pleasure in live Bavarian entertainment while savoring German food.

Take part in one of the biggest and brightest WaterFire spectacles at the seventh annual Flames of Hope: A Celebration of Life for breast cancer survivors on Saturday. Participants will carry torches in the Illuminations of Life Ceremony to WaterPlace Basin in memory of those who have lost their battles to breast cancer. Or, you can rock out all night and still raise money for breast cancer awareness at Boobstock. Brought to you by 990WBOB, experience the stellar lineup including Torn Shorts, Sienna, The Can’t Nots and Kanerko at the PVD Social Club.

All weekend long join in on the fun at Federal Hill's Columbus Weekend Festival. The streets will be closed to accomodate foot traffic and there will be plenty of live entertainment, food and drinks to go around.

Don’t miss the Woonsocket Autumnfest Parade held on Monday at 9:30 from the Diamond Hill Plaza. Celebrate diversity at the Race Against Racism 5K on Sunday, as part of Autumnfest, to demonstrate Woonsocket’s commitment to eliminating racism.

Enjoy the crisp autumn air at the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival at Roger Williams Park. There will be Union Cycliste Internationale racing on Saturday and Sunday with an industry outdoor trade show and exposition.

If you’re in Providence this Saturday then catch Dave Bautista, former WWE star, in his first Mixed Martial Arts fight against Rashid Evans at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Celebrate Headmaster’s, a biannual gay art and literature journal, launch of their fourth issue at Dark Lady with DJ Belligerent Ghoul and VJ DILF on Sunday. Or have a good laugh at Empire Revue's Halloween all-male revue at AS220 hosted by Keith Munslow. Bringing along special guest James Foley, there will be plenty of hilarity to ensue.

Keep dancing the night away with OFest all weekend at the Pawtucket Armory. Enjoy great beer and food with live shows from What Matters?, Those Guys, The Senders and World Premier Band. And end this glorious long weekend with PRONK, the Providence street band festival. With over 14 street bands from around the country performing, there will be plenty of entertainment to end your weekend on a positive note.

PRONK street band festival is actually Monday October 12 at India Point Park starting at 3:30 and going until the musicians' lips fall off or we get kicked out, whichever happens first. Be sure to be there to see local favorites Extraordinary Rendition Band and What Cheer? Brigade as well as other great bands from all over the US!
