Zev Schwartz

Design Out Loud

Posted

“My work is body-conscious, loud, sexy and fun,” Zev Schwartz says of his collection Zev Isaiah. “It’s all about utilizing bold color and texture to bring attention to the wearer.” Having recently graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, Zev will be showing his line for the first time at August’s StyleWeek. His work is characterized by creative use of knitwear, leather work and hand embellishment, and is for both men and women. It’s bold, colorful and pure fun – which makes sense, considering that Zev has trained with fashion and costume designers in New York City, Providence and Helsinki. “I find inspiration in history, global culture, art and nightlife,” he says. For this collection, Zev has been looking to the West. “I have been looking at Pacific Northwest American Indian totem poles, and the at and culture of the people that created them,” he says. “The idea is to look at the graphic elements of the totems and to apply them directly on the body in garments for men and women: dresses, sportswear, knitwear and swimwear.” Zev Schwartz will be presenting at 9pm on Sunday, August 27 at the Providence Biltmore.
