Narragansett Beer Pays Homage to Bing Crosby with Holiday Ale

The White Christmas Winter Warmer tastes like Christmas crooning sounds

You know the nostalgia you get when Bing Crosby’s voice comes on the radio just as the first few flurries of the season dust your windshield during an afternoon of Christmas shopping? Somehow, the brewers at Narragansett Brewery distilled the taste of that feeling into their quintessential holiday ale.

The White Christmas Winter Warmer was born out of a collaboration with Bing Crosby’s estate. “The relationship started this summer over Bing’s annual clambake song, ‘Anthem of the Clams,’ and, of course, Narragansett’s Lager. From there it just logically evolved into a holiday partnership,” says Mark Hellendrung, president of Narragansett Beer.

“The opportunity to come up with a beer to pay homage to this beloved and timeless classic has been an absolute honor and a dream come true,” says head brewer Lee Lord. “I set out to create something that embodied the warmth, cheer, and merriment that Bing Crosby brought to all of us through his music.” A classic brew with a little spice, the Winter Warmer takes advantage of specialty malts to conjure the flavor profiles of figgy pudding, toffee, and caramel. “We also utilized dark sweet cherry, sweet orange peel, and ginger in the brew to give it a fuller depth of flavor and a hint of spice.”

Best served with kith and kin over a crackling fire and “White Christmas” playing on the turntable (or whatever your preferred music listening method), Winter Warmer will be on tap all month, and available by the can. Says Lord, “My hope for this beer is that it brings folks together to enjoy and create happy memories, much like Bing Crosby's music has done over the years.”
