Food Truck Battle Royale

Providence squared off against Boston at India Point Park

Posted

Here’s an odd question: if you died and woke up in Foodie Heaven, would you picture it as India Point Park? After the Providence/Boston Food Truck Showdown on Saturday, June 6 the answer is probably a mouth-watering, glossy-eyed, YES. With more than 20 food trucks participating in the event, Providence foodies gorged themselves on a wide range of inventive dishes and local favorites.

This is the first time the Food Truck Festivals of America has thrown an event in Providence, and the turn-out was incredible. A few of the trucks we were able to try: the Shuckin’ Truck and Plouf Plouf Gastronomie from Providence; Munch Mobile and The Dining Car from Boston. Every dish was unique and delicious (wished we could have tried them all). There was also Sam Adams Beer Garden sectioned off so the adults could enjoy a brew and listen to live music.

Attendees voted for their favorites until it was narrowed down to only two trucks, one from each city: Moyzilla (Boston) and Shuckin’ Truck (Providence). A panel of judges then voted for the champion by a set of criteria—speed of service, friendliness and quality of food. At the end of the day, Moyzilla came out on top. But we know who really won: the foodies.
