Walking Through History One Building at a Time

Posted

Ever found yourself wanting to explore those mysterious mansions that line Broadway? Or maybe you are curious about the stories that are contained inside. Well, here is your chance. On Saturday, October 4, from 10am-4pm, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association (WBNA) is unlocking the doors and reviving the past of Providence’s historic neighborhood with their WBNA House Tour, a self-guided tour of ten of the most striking Victorian homes and buildings, most of which have not been accessible to the public in decades.

Get a firsthand look at one of Broadway’s iconic Barnaby’s Castle. Known for the grim murder of Josephine Barnaby in 1891, this one of a kind castle was built by the prestigious architecture firm Stone, Carpenter and Willson in 1875. But of course, each property on the tour has its very own unique story to tell.

$35 in advance; $40 at the door. 334 Broadway. 831-9344. Preview Party on October 3 at 77 Parade Street. Tickets for this event are $100 and are limited.
