Dos and Don’ts for Eating Like a Real RI Housewife

From lattes to lore, we got you covered

Posted

Love it, hate it, or deny knowing anything about it, behind the drama of Bravo’s hit reality series The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, is the unfiltered beauty of the smallest state. To the uninitiated, the series follows Alicia Carmody, Rosie DiMare, Ashley Iaconetti, Liz McGraw, Rulla Nehme Pontarelli, Kelsey Swanson, Jo-Ellen Tiberi and Dolores Catania (also from The Real Housewives of New Jersey), as they sip champagne, eat pizza chips, and figure out their relationships, set against a backdrop of the beautiful Ocean State. Oh, and the food, Ma! Here are places featured on the show where you can enjoy a bite, a sip, and – not to be delulu, but – perhaps a RHORI sighting.

Audrey’s Coffee House and Lounge

South Kingstown

Day-to-night cafe owned by adorbs married couple Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, who met on The Bachelor.

DO try their new latte menu featuring the Cookie Dough Latte and (as seen on TV) Ashley’s Turtle Latte.

DON’T forget to brush up on your Rhody lore for their Friday trivia nights. (And put some respect on Nibbles Woodaway’s name, please!)

Circe Prime Italian Steakhouse

Cranston

Rustic-meets-elegant in this storied spot, most recently where Chapel Grille used to be.

DO ask for The Liz cocktail at the bar.

DON’T forget to tell the party you’re with that this is where “the bad boy school used to be.”

Fig and Fromage

Narragansett

Caterer specializing in artful charcuterie, as seen aboard the Schooner Aurora.

DO be sure to include “crackahs” in any order to keep calm and happy.

DON’T leave your Gathering Box in the hot sun.

Matunuck Oyster Bar

Wakefield

Fine dining beneath a tent (during a rebuild), serving the freshest dishes.

DO try the oysters that Jo-Ellen’s husband Gary Tiberi recommends (wink wink).

DON’T get nervous if you have to drive on the highway for more than 15 minutes to get there.

Newport Polo

Portsmouth

A historic farm is the place for polo, people-watching, and a wide range of tailgating.

DO stop at Angelo’s Palace Pizza in Cumberland first.

DON’T forget to tell your posse how much you “love a horse.”

Newport Vineyards

Middletown

A 60-acre vineyard with tastings, tanks, merch, and dining.

DO make a reservation at their Farm and Barrel Bistro, and save room for the lemon tart.

DON’T let those wine flights turn into wine fights, especially if you’re dressed for the Ren-Faire – and to be fair, Ashley I wore her boho best because she thought they would be stomping grapes – which they did, but it didn’t make the episode!

Pizza Mamma

Cranston

Everything you need to make a full meal with a delicious New York, Detroit, or Sicilian pie.

DO order off-menu pizza chips and sign up for their rewards program.

DON’T miss the uniforms, chandeliers, and overall vibe that the Pizza Mama herself is responsible for.

Sombra Eatery and Lounge

East Greenwich

Design-forward restaurant serving Mexican-inspired cuisine and cocktails.

Do try their delicious margaritas while taking in their insanely gorgeous decor.

DON’T be surprised if someone asks you if your partner really goes to “the gym” every morning.
