For anyone who has navigated the world of gluten-free living, finding food that feels both safe and exciting can be an ongoing challenge. This March, GFree Fest returns to Providence with a celebration designed to transform that challenge into something joyful, welcoming, and genuinely delicious.
Taking place March 21 and 22 at the WaterFire Arts Center, Rhode Island’s fully gluten-free food festival will feature nearly 90 vendors offering everything from baked goods and ready-to-eat meals to beverages and specialty pantry staples. Attendees can shop, sample, and discover products from local favorites and national brands in a space where gluten-free is not the exception but the standard. Presented by Ampersand Creative Co., the same team behind RI VegFest and Little City Thrifty Vintage Market, GFree Fest is part of a broader effort to support small businesses while building community around shared tables and shared experiences.
Founder BJ Mansuetti says the mission behind the festival is deeply personal. “When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease, I felt isolated and overwhelmed by how much of my life had to change overnight,” Mansuetti shares. “Creating a space where people can connect, feel understood, and realize how accessible, exciting, and fun gluten free living can be has become incredibly meaningful to me.”
Now in its third year, GFree Fest continues to expand that vision. Participating businesses include Rhode Island standouts like May’s Gluten Free and Celebrated, alongside national and international brands such as Jovial and Queen Street Bakery. The festival will also feature a fully gluten free cocktail bar from Inside Voices and gluten free quinoa-based beer from Meli, adding even more variety to the experience.
Sustainability also plays a role in this year’s event. Through partnerships with Epic Renewal and World Centric, organizers aim to divert waste from landfills by using fully compostable products throughout the festival. For tickets and full event details, visit gfreefest.com.
