There’s something about a Broadway season reveal that feels a little like opening night, and this year, the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) wastes no time setting the stage for a showstopping year ahead.
Announced in the theater’s Grand Lobby, PPAC’s 2026/2027 Broadway Season blends big-name hits, bold new productions, and a few firsts that are sure to turn heads across Rhode Island. Leading the lineup is the national tour launch of Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, marking the 25th national tour to debut at the historic venue. It kicks off a season designed to keep audiences coming back for more.
“Our upcoming season is filled with extraordinary stories that will inspire audiences,” says President and CEO Alan J. Chille. “Each theatregoer will find a show that feels truly special.”
That promise plays out across a packed schedule. The Broadway Series includes visually rich productions like The Great Gatsby and Death Becomes Her, alongside crowd favorites such as Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen, The Notebook, and Maybe Happy Ending. For fans of music-driven storytelling, the Encore Series delivers with A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical and Jersey Boys, plus the return of The Bodyguard.
Then comes a milestone moment. For the first time ever, Cirque du Soleil arrives at PPAC with ’Twas the Night Before…, a whimsical holiday production set to bring acrobatics and magic to downtown Providence. It’s a fitting addition to a season that leans into spectacle as much as storytelling.
“At Taco and The White Family Foundation, we believe that communities flourish when they have access to the performing arts,” says Executive Chairman John Hazen White, Jr. “This season’s Broadway lineup is truly exciting, and we know audiences will love it.”
Beyond the marquee titles, PPAC continues to invest in community access, connecting tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders to live performance through outreach programs, student initiatives, and sensory-friendly experiences.
From glitzy premieres to heartfelt favorites, the upcoming season proves that Broadway in Providence is anything but ordinary. For subscriptions, show details, and the full lineup, visit PPAC online at ppacri.org.
