Providence Serves It Up for a Cause

The Providence Culinary Collective blends flavor, community, and philanthropy across four days of food-forward events

In Providence, a great meal rarely stands alone. During the Providence Culinary Collective, it comes with a side of community spirit.

From March 26-29, the citywide festival returns with a packed lineup of tastings, dinners, and chef-driven experiences across Providence. Presented by GoProvidence in partnership with the Rhode Island Wine Experience, the four-day celebration highlights the region’s vibrant food scene while shining a light on programs that support hunger relief, youth job training, and hospitality education.

Several events woven into the festival’s schedule focus on giving back, pairing memorable dining experiences with meaningful community impact.

The weekend begins with the private “Feeding Minds & Bodies” kickoff event, an initiative from Feed the Children that provides food, essentials, and resources to local families facing hunger. In partnership with organizations like Price Rite Marketplace, the campaign connects volunteers, donations, and community partners to help families across Rhode Island access much-needed support.

Another highlight centers on youth empowerment through food. At the new Farm Fresh RI campus on Sims Avenue, visitors can experience “A Taste of Local: Harvest Kitchen Preview Party,” a relaxed open-house event showcasing the nonprofit Farm Fresh RI culinary training program. The initiative prepares teens ages 16-19 involved with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families for careers in the food industry through hands-on kitchen experience and job readiness training.

Guests can sample house-made dishes and jarred goods crafted with seasonal Rhode Island ingredients while learning how the program helps young people build confidence and professional skills.

For those craving a more indulgent evening, “Seven Nations, One Table: Celebrating Culinary Futures” brings together some of the region’s most respected chefs for a globally inspired tasting event at The Reserve on Dorrance. The evening pairs renowned culinary talent with students from Johnson & Wales University, including James Beard Award semifinalist Kevin O’Donnell alongside acclaimed local chefs such as Kerri Spady and Champe Speidel.

Proceeds from the evening benefit the Rhode Island Hospitality Association’s David DePetrillo Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports students pursuing education and careers in hospitality.

Across the festival, that blend of flavor and purpose is the main ingredient. Each bite, sip, and shared table reflects the spirit of a city where food culture and community care go hand in hand.
