It’s never too early for a feel good comeback, and Greater Providence just scored a big one. After a brief hiatus that left locals missing the signature purple pride, Relay For Life of Greater Providence is officially back on the calendar for 2026. The beloved event returns to Pierce Memorial Stadium in East Providence, bringing its hopeful heartbeat and community spirit back to the forefront.
To keep the momentum strong, the American Cancer Society has sweetened the deal with a special sign up raffle that could jumpstart your wellness goals before the ball even drops.
Now through December 31, anyone who registers for the 2026 Relay and raises fifty dollars will be entered to win a one year Planet Fitness Black Card membership. Every additional fifty dollars raised earns another raffle ticket, so your fundraising not only fuels cancer research and support programs but also boosts your chances to win. One lucky participant will score access to every Planet Fitness location, massage chairs, guest passes, and more. Not bad for doing something good.
Event Chair Sandra Morgan shared why this moment feels extra meaningful. “Relay For Life is built on hope, connection, and the power of people coming together,” she said. “As we prepare to relaunch Greater Providence’s Relay, we want to encourage early registration and community excitement with this incredible giveaway, thanks to our partners at Planet Fitness.”
Relay For Life has always been more than a walk. Survivors take victory laps. Families gather to honor loved ones. Teams show up in matching shirts, armed with snacks and unstoppable energy. Ceremonies fill the day with heart. Kids burn off steam. Adults make new friends. Everyone leaves feeling like they are part of something bigger.
The 2026 event promises all that and more, wrapped in a full day of celebrating, remembering, and taking action. Two of the most meaningful moments return as well. The Luminaria Lap brings a quiet glow after sundown, when candlelit bags decorated with names, messages, and memories line the track. Each ten dollar luminaria shines for someone touched by cancer and helps fuel the American Cancer Society’s mission. Earlier in the day, the Survivor’s Lap sets the tone with pure inspiration. Survivors lead the first lap as everyone else lines the track to cheer them on, celebrating their strength and reminding the community why Relay matters.
Getting involved is easy. Register online, start fundraising, and once you hit fifty dollars, you are in the raffle. Keep going to raise your odds. The winner will be announced in early January, just in time to start the new year with a little extra motivation. For more information or to register, visit acsevents.org.
