After an incredible showing at the 2026 Olympics in Milan, our skaters are home, and ready to show off their new accessories. This year, Stars on Ice is a victory tour, led by Olympic champion Alysa Liu. She skated alongside fellow Team USA members Amber Glenn, Ilia Malinin, Ellie Kam, Daniel O'Shea, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates, who all collaborated to win gold in the team event this year.
These skaters were the darlings of the show. The segment “American Gold” highlighted their achievement, and gave them an opportunity to perform parts of their Olympic routines here on American ice.
Along with this year’s gold medalists, the cast was rounded out by Jason Brown, Isabeau Levito, Andrew Torgashev, Anthony Ponomarenko and Christina Carreira, skating their own routines as well as numbers with the whole cast, such as the show’s opener “Brink of Annihilation/Fearless,” which set the tone for the evening with a taste each skater or duo and a glimpse at the theatrics to come.
Over the two-and-a-half-hour runtime, the cast displayed the beauty and versatility of figure skating performance.
Alysa Liu’s solo routines perfectly captured this: one heartfelt, emotional performance to Laufey’s “Promise,” and one fun, joyful skate to the trending “Stateside” by PinkPantheress. Both skates demonstrated her technical skill and love for the sport, the combination that won the USA its first women’s singles Olympic Gold since 2002.
The fun, dancey numbers were the most memorable. Isabeau Levito’s performance to “Material Girl” by Madonna brought attitude, skating blinged out in a costume with glittering shimmer you could see from every seat in the stadium. Kam & O’Shea’s performance of “The 305 Experience” was also a blast, with the duo’s usual lifts and acrobatics. Danny O’Shea even skated that number dressed as Pitbull, the song’s artist. “Friend Like Me” performed by Jason Brown was also a stand-out, using a number of props in a magic-show style routine, complete with a staff that is conjured from nowhere, and a sudden costume change.
The group routines were also notable. “Too Darn Hot,” skated with the whole cast in pink and red costumes, ended the first act with quite a flourish. On the other end of intermission, the show resumed with Brown, Malinin, O’Shea, Ponomarenko, and Torgashev skating an all-men number in matching teal suits. The most fun group song has to go to “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, skated by Glenn, Levito, and Liu. This number combined some of the original choreography from the movie with incredible moves from all three skaters, while all dressed in beautiful white and gold costumes that complimented each other without matching exactly.
It would be an injustice not to highlight Amber Glenn, whose two solo skates to Lady Gaga’s “That’s Life” and Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” were also stand-outs, but who also regularly held the microphone and helped MC the event, speaking to the crowd and giving her fellow skaters the proper introduction, when needed.
On the heels of the incredible Olympic performance in Milan this year, Stars on Ice helped remind us here in Rhode Island that figure skating is something to be enjoyed even beyond the Olympic cycle every four years.
